Defense against my Evangelism

Introduction

In the last week, I have had two severe debates about ATL Hip Hop and I find this interesting.

When I sat back and let the “Pioneers” run the show, I was dismayed by what I was seeing.

Where is the Scholarship?

Where are the Scholarly Articles?

Where are the “Literary” Works?

Why does no one care about the early days of Hip Hop?

After 41 years of silence, I have decided it was time to voice the TRUTH about the early days of ATL Hip Hop.

My Story

I am one of the Founders of ATL Hip Hop, I was there from the beginning.

I was active in several elements:

  • Breakdancing
  • Uprocking
  • Popping
  • Yeeking
  • Beatboxing
  • Rapping
  • Graffiti Artwork
  • Hip Hop Lingo
  • Hip Hop Fashion (Breakdancing)
  • Hip Hop Fashion (Five Points Prep)

With an in-depth understanding of each of these areas, I have the authority to speak on these elements, their origins, their crossover appeal, and their impact on the early days of ATL Hip Hop.

Recent Response

In the last week, there have been two severe debates about my authority as the Hip Hop Evangelist.

Two people have attacked me about Hip Hop and have advocated that, this is your opinion and means nothing. Just because you’re passionate, doesn’t mean other people don’t know or care about ATL Hip Hop.”

I find it interesting that, for 41 years of silence, there has been no “active push” for the early days of ATL Hip Hop.

It appears that people are concerned about “NOW” and now “THEN.”

The New York chapter of Hip Hop released their powerful documentary, The Founding Fathers, and it was a keen insight into the early days of New York Hip Hop.

And now, that I am stepping out with Scholarship on our early days, people are playing DEFENSE on ya boy.

Conclusion

Our sacred duty to Mother Hip Hop is to tell the Truth, chronicle the past, and ensure Hip Hop continues to evolve.

Bam gave us 5 Elements of Hip Hop and that was fine for back then.

I expanded that to 10 Elements of ATL Hip Hop and now, it addresses our modern world.

I am asking that each of you speak personally to Mother Hip Hop and ask her to whisper her secrets to you.

Like Dick Gregory said, Once you put on the Glasses, you can’t ask anyone to put them on.”

Therefore, this Heroic Journey is mine to travel alone.

And return to the Village with the Golden Fleece!!!
