Background Information

Officially, most Treatments are written for Film, but just because this Industry began this format does not limit to this Industry.

In our Modern World of Transmedia, a Treatment can be written for any Project (Idea, Concept, Premise, etc.) in any Published Format (Book, Comic Book, eBook, Video Game, Feature Film, TV Series, Web Series, etc.).

Length

A Treatment’s length is usually from 8-20 pages.

However, a treatment can range from 1 page up to 100 pages, depending on the complexity and length of the Project.

Type

A Treatment is a Narrative, written in Prose.

It can be for a Fiction, Non-Fiction, or Hybrid Project.

Structure (Narrative and Story Development)

Overall, a Treatment tells the story of what happens in your Project.

Going deeper, it is a synopsis of your story, written with action and sparse dialogue.

Structure (Stylistic and Literary Purpose)

A Treatment is written in the present tense and its presentation is usually engaging to a reader.
